Sustainable business is at the heart of sustainable communities.

The Green To Gold Business Network is a 501(c)6 non-profit business organization whose mission is to promote, support, nurture, and grow sustainable (socially and environmentally responsible “green” ) businesses.

The cities and regions across the country which are routinely chosen as best places to live have two dominant factors in common: diverse and healthy economies with sustainability built in to there planning initiatives.

People and businesses are increasingly drawn to regions with quality of life that results from long term sustainability planning, and support for the types of businesses that drive a healthy economy.

What do we mean by sustainable?

At our conference in March of 2006, Ed Fox defined sustainability as living up to 3 principles —

A Healthful Environment
A Thriving Economy
Social Equity

We think that is a great definition.

Because we realize there's no such thing as a perfectly sustainable business, all prospective members complete a “sustainability self-assessment” and sign a pledge which includes helping other members achieve sustainability goals.

Green to Gold was founded in Prescott, Arizona by Mary Lin, M Ed, Jan Bryan, CFP, and Martyn 'Bhupesh' Arnold in March 2005.
